Indie Ogden News ? Recreation Outlet Moves to a Bigger Location!

Have you guys heard the big news? Recreation Outlet has outgrown it?s old location, & has moved to a gigantic place just down the street! These guys, who are nominated for the Best of Ogden awards, have been around for awhile, & their business has grown! This is great news for locals; it is so good to see a local business thriving & doing well! The recent move means more space for great outdoor gear, & more variety of items to choose from! I recently asked Shade Anderson, the General Manager, a few questions about the big move!

& for those who aren?t aware, Recreation Outlet is having a GRAND REOPENING PARTY starting today, & going all weekend! There will be raffles, giveaways, sales & more! It?s going to be great. Read on for more info!

1. Why did you guys decide to move?
We decided to move for a number of reasons, but mainly because we wanted to have much more space to display merchandise. If you?ve spent much time in our stores, you?ll know part of our business model is to offer a HUGE selection of product, we simply stuff our stores. The idea is: we want to have equipment options for everyone: every experience level, and every budget. We feel this is a more responsible way to stock a gear shop. Not everyone will use it frequently enough to justify buying a $600 tent, or a $300 sleeping bag. We carry top-end equipment as well, from some of the biggest and most awarded manufacturers in the outdoor industry, for those who push themselves and their gear to the limits, but we want budget-conscious shoppers and casual campers alike to have access to reliable equipment that will serve their needs, without breaking the bank.

2. What can customers expect from the new store? Anything new they should be aware of?

More space means more product! The most notable addition is the 4000 sq. ft. ?Bargain Basement? where we?ve put an added focus on tremendous deals. When you?ve been in this business as long as we have, there?s not a day that goes by where someone doesn?t approach us with some great closeout or overstock offer, often sold at huge discounts, we have always made it a point to take advantage of these great deals and pass the savings along to our valued customers, the new Bargain Basement gives us some dedicated space to focus on that aspect of our business, and even go a little further with it. Also, we have been focused on bringing in some great new product lines, like Sierra Designs, Buff, Injinji, Camelbak and Kelty. Stay tuned for ?13, ?our buying team has some exciting and surprising prospects for more new product lines and expanding our product offerings in existing categories this coming spring.

3. When exactly does the new store open?

The new store is open and operational currently! ?We will be celebrating our grand re-opening this coming Thursday-Saturday, November 8th, 9th and 10th with Storewide Savings and raffle drawings for giveaways, as well as some incredible offers on winter equipment like Burton R.E.D and Pro-Tec Ski and Snowboard helmets at 40% off of their regular retail prices. The best part? we?re extending Ogden?s grand reopening specials at all three of our locations, so Salt Lake and Utah county customers don?t feel left out.

4.?How is this going to help Recreation Outlet continue to thrive in Ogden?

We?re here to offer Ogden?s community better access to a wide selection of quality outdoor gear. If we do our job well, we have seen that the good people of Ogden will help us to thrive. We sincerely appreciate all the support and enthusiasm we?ve experienced from the community. Us little, local guys need the community?s support, their decision to shop at local businesses, now more than ever.

5. What?s your favorite part about being a business owner in Ogden?

Ogden is a community on the move! Since we?ve opened in Ogden, the energetic and welcoming attitude of the city, the community and best of all the customers, has been very noticeable, inspiring and genuine. We?re proud to be one of the businesses helping to move Ogden onward and upward.

6.How does it feel to know Ogden locals nominated you for Best Local Gear Shop? How does that make everyone at the business feel? Why do you think you deserve to win?
It feels terrific, we?re honored to have been nominated, and we?ll continue doing our part to make sure we EARN Ogden?s ?customer confidence and patronage. We?re here for the long haul, we intend to what we have always done to keep our customers happy; we offer exceptional customer service; we have a huge selection of gear, both top name-brands and great values. It?s a simple recipe, but an effective one. It has served us well, but more importantly, it?s been serving Utah?s community of outdoor enthusiasts for 25 years. Thanks to the people of Ogden for showing us you appreciate what we?re doing.
