Official: Jamaica's opposition easily wins vote (AP)

KINGSTON, Jamaica ? Opposition leader Portia Simpson Miller has officially led her party to a landslide victory in Jamaica's parliamentary elections.

The official count released Tuesday shows that Simpson Miller's People's National Party defeated the incumbent Jamaica Labor Party by a two-to-one margin.

Election officials say her party won 42 seats while Labor claimed 21 in the 63-member Parliament.

That's one more seat for Simpson Miller's party than was first announced in the preliminary tally after Thursday's vote.

After a recount, outgoing Commerce Minister Christopher Tufton lost his seat in St. Elizabeth parish by 13 votes.

Elections Director Orrette Fisher has sent an advisory clearing the way for Simpson Miller to be sworn in.
